Ubudtaxi started as a project to help taxi-drivers, who faced poverty, because their income was not enough to support their families, due to the high rent of a car. Many drivers drive with a rented car. After paying the rent, not much is left over for their families.
Having their own car is for most of the drivers only a dream. Ubud Taxi project started with Kadek (married and 1 daughter), driver in Ubud for some years. He rented a car from his neighbour. Kadek lost his job, when the neighbour sold his car, because he needed money. Kadek was reducing to poverty. Thanks to the project Ubudtaxi Kadek could continue his job as a taxi-driver.
In the meantime Ubud Taxi has become a professional taxi-company. Now there are 6 drivers working for Ubud Taxi.
Since 1 september 2009 there are also drivers available in the Airport-region. So Ubud Taxi can also arrange short-distance transfers from the Airport to Kuta/ Legian/Sanur and other places in South Bali.
Ubud Taxi has skilled drivers; there is no touting.
All the cars have Air-con.
The management is dutch, on voluntarily basis.
